My sister is about to embark on IVF with her husband. They are going to use an egg donor. I tell you this because the medication needed is a little less than if you use your own egg. With that said, I would like to know if anyone out there knows the risks as far as the medication is concerns, like cancer. Ovary, Uterine and Breast cancer seem the likely risks with hormones. But since this is a short period of time to be on the drugs we are hoping the risk is near zero. Can someone please tell me your experience/knoweldge. No opinions please. 10 pts within 2 days. My husband and I just had this talk with our RE last week. We saw some program (Dateline…?)about women donating eggs many many times and about how bad it is for our health. Of course this scared me and I brought this up with our RE. He said that they have been participating in a 15+ year study with over 50,000 women and found NO evidence that assisted reproductive technology (ART) has ANY long term effects to our health.
